i can thank sam for my next blog inspiration.
he writes/reviews manga for a website called Popcultureshock. the manga staff, including him, often do roundtable discussions with various topics: best/worst of year 20whatever, author hierarchies, what cliche character are you, etc. and, naturally, having my own opinions about manga, i always want to copy. but i'm usually limited to a basic knowledge along with my shojo collection. (which is okay! it's kind of like cooking - i enjoy it, but don't feel the need to be an expert. i just enjoy as i go.)
anyways, this one is more relevant, so feel free to browse through for other examples.

My life leading up to know would most resemble
Hot Gimmick, although the hierarchy that exists within the housing complex would most likely apply to my academics much more than social classes. I'm not a carbon copy of Hatsumi, either, but probably a safe mix of her and Akane, and, considering I don't have any siblings, it's more accurate that way. (I've also never been subjected to sexual assault by models, but there you have it.) My love life up until Sam was a hot mess (and it still could be, if I wasn't wise enough to handle myself), and resulted in me being stretched thin, either as a result of a man's selfishness or mine. Self-doubt and shyness was a big part of not being able to make clear decisions as well. But while my popularity with my male counterparts rose, my image declined in the eyes of others - much like Hatsumi's peers and neighbors. Although, like Hatsumi and Akane, I didn't turn into the town bicycle. I swallowed my pride and followed my inner nerd. Thank god.
While I haven't read all of it, in the recent months, my life sobers and grows closer and closer to resemblance of
Solanin. from what I understood (and this was a while ago), the main character is close to my age, with a boyfriend, both with a lack of funds and a lack of drive. Although I don't hate curry.
Switching questions...I don't think I know enough manga to really pick one series that would be ideal. My immediate instinct would be the glamor-filled world of
NANA...but while I, too, would love to make my voice my career (perhaps in a different way), the extreme anguish that results from each person's relationships just isn't worth it...even if everyone IS beautiful.
Even though there are a million comics out there and I'm only supposed to pick one, I'm going to just give in and say...
Sailor Moon. Because there are elements of magic, mystery, love, and cats. And awesome costumes. Also, it would be really, really pathetic if I didn't say something magical-related.
But if I had to pick something more realistic?
Oishinbo! I think I'd be down with being married to a hot food critic and constantly sampling Japanese cuisine.
